RECIPE: Fried Green Tomatoes

Ryan picked up some green tomatoes from his Mom’s garden yesterday and today he made us some fried green tomatoes with them tonight that were delicious! He followed the recipe on They were super easy to make and a turned out so good!

First he sliced the tomatoes into thick slices…

Then he dredged them in buttermilk and a mixture of flour, bread crumbs and cornmeal. For seasoning he added salt & pepper to the buttermilk and then garlic powder and chipotle powder into the flour mixture.

After dredging he fried them in vegetable oil in our cast iron skillet for a few minutes on each side until golden brown.

We ate half of them with marinara and the other half with Frank’s Red hot sauce. I personally liked them with the hot sauce best. But then really anything with Frank’s Red is good to me.
