Morning Skin Care Routine

In my younger days I was the absolute worst about skin care. Like “never washed my face and if I did I used whatever bar of soap was in the shower” bad.

I never had problems with my skin so it didn’t seem like something I needed to focus on. After I turned 30 it hit me that this is the only skin I am getting and I should probably start taking care of it. Since then I have been obsessed with natural skin care products and love pampering myself with face products and routines. Let’s go through the couple steps I take to keep my skin looking fresh (well, as fresh as a 30 year old with two toddlers can look!).

Step 1: Wash & Exfoliate

I have been using Murad’s Resurgence face wash for a little over a year now and I love it. You truly need maybe a dime sized amount to lather your entire face. One tube of this lasts my husband and I probably 6+ months. In December, after years of raving about it from Ally, I purchased a Clarisonic and my life was forever changed. I also purchased the exfoliating head at the same time and the deep, massaging, exfoliating clean I get from this magical machine is like nothing else. The Clarisonic is obviously pricey, which is why I avoided buying one for so long, but after the first use you understand why. I have tried other knock off face cleansing tools and nothing compares to the deep clean you get from a Clarisonic.

[Step 1.5…? Depending on the dryness of my skin, occasionally I will use Thayers Witch Hazel after I cleanse my skin.]

Step 2: Oil

I have tried most of Herbivore’s face oils but I am currently using their Emerald Deep Moisture Glow Oil and I LOVE it. All of their oils are amazing so you really can’t go wrong, but this oil in particular is so light and absorbs into your skin almost instantly.

Step 3: Moisturizer

That greasy, suffocating feeling you can sometimes get from face lotion is probably the top reason why I never adopted a skincare regimen. I cannot stand the feeling of my skin being clogged by lotion. Cue Herbivore Pink Cloud. GUYS. This stuff is like a fluffy, light, magical DREAM. Another product where a tiny bit goes a long way. You truly only need a little dab on your finger for your entire face. It absorbs quickly with no residual greasy feeling on your skin.

Step 4: Lips

I have perpetually dry lips, especially during Ohio winters, so a rich lip moisturizer is always my last step. I will switch between this Drunk Elephant Lippe Balm or just good ‘ol Aquaphor. If my lips are really dry I will add another step and exfoliate my lips with Lush Mint Julips lip scrub.

BONUS: I should add that when I was just in Florida I tried my cousins Elemis Cleansing Balm and it felt AMAZING so of course I had to order that. It should be arriving soon and I will do a little review for you guys!
